Saulnier Floors has called Peabody home for three generations. Our showroom on Foster Street is where North Shore homeowners come to compare finishes, grades and species in person, and Peabody is the community we have served longest. From the mid century capes and ranches off Lowell Street to the newer colonials near the Lynnfield line, we understand the homes in this city and the floors beneath them.
Most Peabody homes we work in were built between the early 1950s and the late 1990s, and red oak is the species we find most often. In many cases the original 2 1/4 inch strip flooring remains structurally sound after seventy years and needs only expert sanding and a fresh finish to look remarkable again.
Other homes require more. In a split level on Waselchuk Drive in West Peabody, we removed 1,300 square feet of mixed tile, hardwood, luxury vinyl and carpet before the project could begin. In a 2012 colonial in South Peabody, we installed new factory sealed red oak in the homeowner’s office and refinished the surrounding 1,400 square feet in our Sable color with a satin sheen, so that new and original floors read as one continuous surface.

A beautiful floor begins beneath the surface. That West Peabody project required new layers of subfloor, glued and nailed, to bring the entire level to one continuous height before installation could begin. We added cork underlayment for warmth and sound, then sanded and finished the floors and stair treads on site.

No project is too small. We refinished a single set of oak stair treads near downtown Peabody in two days. On Raymond Circle we installed new white oak in a kitchen, weaving it seamlessly into the existing dining room floor so no transition is visible.
A recoat is an additional coat of finish applied without a full sanding. It is the most cost-effective way to protect your investment, and it is only possible when the original finish has been maintained. We returned to that same Raymond Circle home two years later to refinish a bedroom and recoat the kitchen, living room and hallway. Homeowners who recoat on schedule may never require a full sanding again.
Our team uses industry standard dust containment systems on every sanding project, keeping your home comfortable while we work and leaving it clean when we finish.

Our NWFA-certified professionals bring over 70 years of family experience to every Peabody home we enter. We were voted Northshore Magazine’s Readers’ Choice for Best Flooring on the North Shore, and we are proud that so much of our work comes from homeowners we have served before. Whether you are restoring an original floor or selecting new flooring for a renovation, our team will guide you from consultation through final inspection.
